Sarpanch Shri G Dhanasekhar starts initiative for clean litter and plastic free Kangundi in anticipation of introduction of bouldering/ climbing/ rappelling tourism and homestays
Led by Shri G Dhanasekhar, Sarpanch of Kangundi, the Panchayat of Kangundi and its people have got together to clean up Kangundi Durgam/ Fort and Village. This is in preparation of the expected arrival of tourists for bouldering, climbing and rappelling on the inselberg of Kangundi and the boulders, crags and cliffs around it. The people, after cleaning up their Kangundi Village on 29 March 2025, climbed up the Kangundi Durgam/ Fort on the ancient inselberg to clean up the precincts of the Sri Malleswara Swami Temple on the top.
Thanks are due to Shri PS Munirathnam and Prof Chokkalingam, both sons-of-soil, who are wholeheartedly supporting this campaign in their ancestral village in Kuppam, Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh, India. Want to try a new activity? I’m planning a trip to a new bouldering and rock climbing site, in Kangundi. It is just 2.5 hrs away from Bangalore. They are holding a Bouldering festival l, so I am sure there will be coaches who can teach us some basic techniques and safety tips. It’ll be a fun time!
