KANGUNDI CLIMBING CUP

Kangundi’s First Event Climbing Cup Judged by Indian Mountaineering Foundation Kicked Off on 8th January 2026. 70 athletes have registered for it, including 10 from the Army. The Chief Guest was Brigadier (Retired) K Kumar, Chairman Indian Mountaineering Foundation South Zone. Shri Keerthi Pais, Secretary of Indian Mountaineering Foundation is also one of the judges.

Kangundi Climbing Cup Competition, 8-9 January 2026

For the first time ever in Andhra Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department in collaboration with District Collector Chittoor, Kuppam Area Development Authority, Mahavatar Babaji TadEkam Foundation and newly registered Kangundi Nature and Adventure Society organised Andhra Pradesh’s first ever Kangundi Bouldering Festival. It is being organised from 6th to 10th January 2026. As part of this Festival, a Andhra Pradesh’s First Ever Climbing Cup is being conducted on 8th and 9th January by Indian Mountaineering Foundation.

A total of 70 athletes registered for the Climbing Cup. This includes two US nationals, 10 climbers of Indian Army’s Climbing Team and athletes from Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru, Guntur and Gandikota. Few of the players are from Indian Mountaineering Foundation’s South Zone Climbing Team. Two of India’s young climbers who participated in the Competition are Karan and Kabir.

The Kangundi Climbing Cup was held in the new Kangundi Rocks Bouldering Gym donated by TadEkam’s Guruji Naushir to the youth of Kangundi. It has been constructed by Deepak Pawar of Pune (Adtire Adventure and Deepak Institute of Sports Climbing). The prize distribution is scheduled for 9th January 2026.
